When refilling a LAMY Mechanical Pencil, be sure to choose leads that match the mechanism of the pencil.
The safari and AL-star Mechanical Pencils most commonly use 0.5mm leads, and will take the LAMY M41 0.5mm Lead Refill. To refill these pencils, remove the eraser and the eraser mount, and fresh leads can be inserted into the pencil’s body. Replace the eraser mount and eraser.
LAMY 2000, scala and logo Mechanical Pencils typically use 0.7mm leads, and accept LAMY M40 0.7mm Pencil Leads. Refill these pencils by holding the front section in one hand, and twisting the back section anti-clockwise to separate it from the front section. At the top of the mechanism inside, remove the stopper and insert fresh leads into the chimney. Replace the stopper when finished, then slide the back section of the pencil over the mechanism and twist clockwise to secure.
